Savant Ball

A smart-ball platform intended to play like an off-the-shelf golf ball, cost no more than an off-the-shelf golf ball, and combine ball telemetry with P3 and smartphone evidence to democratize high-fidelity launch tracking.

Evidence discipline

What exists, what is being built, and what must be proven next.

Current foundation

A reduced-sensor MEMS architecture, gyro-emulation direction, P3 and smartphone fusion, time-fused shot record, materials and manufacturing work, and patent-family strategy.

Active development

Sensor package, power, communications, algorithms, ball construction, gyro emulation, P3 fusion, free-app experience, bench testing, manufacturing, and rules strategy.

Next proof

Bench and flight prototypes, balance, feel, durability, kinematics accuracy, equivalence to ordinary balls, manufacturing yield, target price, battery life, and rules review.

The platform thesis

The launch monitor becomes the ball, the phone, and the app.

A premium measurement experience no longer has to begin with a premium hardware box. The ball supplies instrumented evidence. P3 and the smartphone add visual, sound, club, body, and environmental context. Software fuses the event.

Gyro emulation.

The reduced-sensor direction uses accelerometer evidence, learned dynamics, event context, and P3 visual observation to reconstruct angular state that would ordinarily require a physical gyroscope. The goal is robust ball kinematics with less mass, power, complexity, and cost inside the ball.

P3 plus the smartphone.

The phone can contribute one or more cameras, sound, pose, timing, environmental context, computation, display, identity, and connectivity. P3 concentrates visual evidence where the ball, club, or body event demands it. The fused system is stronger than treating the ball as an isolated transmitter.

A real ball, not a technology prop.

The product target is conventional balance, feel, flight, durability, and rules-compatible construction. The intended golfer should not have to choose between measuring the shot and playing a real golf ball.

No more than the ball on the shelf.

The manufacturing and commercial target is an instrumented ball priced no higher than a comparable off-the-shelf premium ball, supported by a free smartphone app. That target must be proven through materials, yield, assembly, distribution, and replacement economics.

Every kind of shot.

The architecture is intended to measure putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play, partial shots, full swings, and the transitions among them—shot states that many expensive launch systems do not handle equally well.

Democratized for good.

If the performance and cost targets are proven, high-end launch tracking becomes a permanent ball-and-software capability rather than a privilege tied to an expensive installation. Our working market thesis is that latent demand for high-fidelity launch measurement is at least two orders of magnitude larger than today's installed base.

One continuing record

What this adds to MyGolfSavant.

The ball becomes the most natural source of shot evidence while the smartphone connects that evidence to the golfer's body, club, place, intention, and history.

Measures

Ball telemetry according to the final sensor package, P3 image and sound evidence, club and body context, environment, and shot identity.

Interprets

Linear and angular state, gyro emulation, sensor agreement, impact and flight, confidence, and equipment context.

Remembers

The registered ball, golfer, club, session, environment, telemetry, fused visual evidence, outcome, and response.

Changes next

Every ordinary shot can become useful longitudinal evidence without requiring a dedicated launch-monitor installation.

The disruptive force

Premium launch intelligence for the price of the ball and a free app.
